Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Let's Talk IEP (also offered as My IEP Companion) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Service. The Service is operated by Karla F Trujillo, trading as Lets Talk IEP.
This policy applies to the Let's Talk IEP website, the Let's Talk IEP web application, the Let's Talk IEP Android application, and the Let's Talk IEP iOS application (collectively, the "Service"). It describes the same practices no matter which platform you use.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide the Service:
- Account information — your name and email address.
- Child profiles created by parents (such as name, grade, school, diagnoses, and IEP goals).
- Parent concerns, questions, and meeting notes you enter.
- Communication logs you record with your child's school or team.
- School staff information entered by users (such as teacher or case manager contact details).
- Calendar reminders and events you create.
- Uploaded documents and records — including IEPs, evaluations, eligibility reports, progress reports, report cards, meeting notices, letters, and any other files you choose to upload for organization and storage.
- Subscription status (whether your account is on a free trial, active subscription, or expired).
Why We Collect It
We use this information solely to provide the Service's organization, reminder, communication, document storage, and IEP planning features — so you can prepare for meetings, keep records in one place, and advocate effectively for your child.
Documents and Records
Uploaded documents and records are stored securely to provide the Service's document organization and storage features. You retain full ownership of everything you upload. We do not review, analyze, or share your documents except as needed to operate the Service.
Future Features
The Service is designed to grow with families. Future versions may include AI-powered assistance to help parents organize information, summarize documents, prepare questions, and support educational planning. Any AI assistance will be informational only and will not replace educational, medical, or legal advice from qualified professionals. We encourage you to review and verify any AI-generated suggestions before using them in your child's IEP process.
Future versions may also support multiple languages, and may allow parents to track educational goals, milestones, observations, and progress over time. These features will use the same information you already enter, and they will remain under your control.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and authenticated database access. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to keep backup copies of important records outside the app.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers only process information as needed to deliver their function:
- RevenueCat — subscription management on mobile.
- Apple App Store — iOS app distribution and in-app purchases.
- Google Play — Android app distribution and in-app purchases.
- Paddle — web subscription billing and tax compliance.
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
Children's Information
The Service is intended for parents and caregivers. Parents are responsible for the information they enter about their children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, or where required by law.
Payments
Payment information is processed by Apple, Google Play, or Paddle and is not stored by Let's Talk IEP. We only receive limited information such as subscription status and a customer identifier.
Data Retention After Free Trial
If you don't subscribe after your 7-day free trial, your account will enter read-only mode. You'll continue to have access to view and export your data for 30 days. After this 30-day grace period, your account and any associated documents may be permanently deleted.
We follow this policy to protect the sensitive personal and educational information you've trusted us with, and to avoid retaining children's educational records longer than necessary. If you'd like to keep your information, you can resubscribe or export your data at any time before the grace period ends.
Account Deletion
Users may request account deletion and deletion of associated data by emailing clientcare@letstalkiep.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request."
